An Evening With Reed Maxfield – Album and EP Launch

After months holed up in the recording studio, Reed Maxfield celebrate the launch of their 3rd album, Songbook Vol. 3 on Friday 22nd April at the Farncombe Music Club.

Alongside their band members Colin Giffin (vocals, guitar) and Phil Lockhart (percussion), Philippa (vocals, bowed psaltery) and Chris (guitars, backing vocal) also celebrate the achievement of being the very first local band to headline their own night at this top Surrey music venue.

It’s not the first time the band have appeared at FMC. Reed Maxfield have opened for British country acts Red Sky July, and My Darling Clementine, and blues band BabaJack, as well as enjoyed stints at the Acoustic Café which was recorded at the venue for radio broadcast.

What can a music lover expect from ‘An Evening with Reed Maxfield’? Taking the basic tenets from folk, country, and a pinch of rock & roll, they blend them into a distinctly melodic, hook-filled brew. There are songs that will make you ponder, giggle, dance, and possibly shed a small tear. Natural and engaging, it’s all about the music for Reed Maxfield, and they happily share their infectious passion with their audience.

‘An Evening with Reed Maxfield’ is not only the launch of their brand new album, but also the launch of band member Colin Giffin’s EP. With both Philippa and Chris featuring on the EP (and Chris Maxfield behind the production), it’s a real collaboration with Colin. This is a man who comes with his own, perfectly formed rock & roll history…some of which you’ll undoubtedly get to know on the night!

As co-founder of 60s group The End, Colin was a major contributor to that group’s now-iconic 1969 album ‘Introspection’, widely agreed to be a classic piece of 60s Psychedelia. Fans of the now cult album may well be in for a bit of a treat on the night. “Colin has brought a wealth of experience” say Philippa & Chris. “His influences have also fitted right into the band, and he’s brought a true country-tinged timbre to the vocal duets and three part harmonies that we love so much.”

Featuring songs from their trio of Songbook albums, as well as covers of some of their favourite songs, there’ll also be some special guests joining in on the night too…all helping celebrate the reaching of a new, accomplished stage for Reed Maxfield.
